MELBOURNE - Florida Southern College had 170 of its winter and spring student-athletes named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the 2017 spring semester that was announced Friday by the league office. A league-high 51 of those student-athletes earned a perfect 4.00 grade point average for this past academic semester.
The Florida Southern Athletics Department had a very successful year in 2016-17, winning a national championship in men's golf and finishing as national runner-up in women's lacrosse with eight other teams making it to the NCAA postseason. Florida Southern also excelled in the classroom as well, as over 460 Moccasins combined for a 3.42 grade point average this past semester.
LAKELAND - A four-time national championship golf coach and an 11-year veteran of Major League Baseball are the next two Moccasins to be named to the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame. FSC women's golf coach, Robbie Davis, and former Moccasin pitcher, Andy McGaffigan, will officially be inducted this Tuesday, June 13, in ceremonies at the RP Funding Center (formerly, the Lakeland Center) as part of the Polk County All-Sports Awards Banquet.

INDIANAPOLIS - The Sunshine State Conference is the top NCAA Division II conference in Academic Success Rate (ASR). On Tuesday, November 15, the NCAA released ASR data for all 24 NCAA Division II conferences, with the SSC leading the way at 86 percent.

The Florida Southern soccer teams made it five years in a row where both squads were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American with the annual Team Academic Award. The men's team has now earned that award 10 consecutive years, while the women have been on the list for the last five. The men were tied for #3 among all Division II schools with their 3.45 team GPA, and the women were 13th with a team GPA of 3.56.
