FSC Athletic Communications Earns Multiple CoSIDA Awards

GREENWOOD, IN - The Florida Southern College athletic communications office has been recognized for its work in the areas of graphic design and video production, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Friday, June 8. The athletic communications staff earned three different awards in the Publications and Digital Design Contest, taking first and fifth place in the Video Feature - College category and seventh in the Infographic Athlete - College contest.

"It's extremely humbling and a huge honor for this work to be recognized as some of the best in the country," said Ryan Bower, director of athletic communications at FSC. "We've got an incredibly talented communications staff here at Florida Southern, both full-time staff, and student assistants, and everything we do is a total team effort. I'm thrilled for my staff that they get to be recognized at this level."

The Moccasins took first place in the video feature competition with their "2018 Spring Hype Video" and fifth for the "2017 Florida Southern Volleyball National Championship Recap" production, both of which were filmed and edited by student assistants Wil Fisackerly and Zach Smith. Florida Southern's seventh-place showing in the infographic contest came via Bower's women's basketball academic all-district graphic which highlighted Jensen Blassage.

"It's been an absolute privilege to lead the athletic communications staff at Florida Southern for the past two years," said Bower. "I'm especially proud of Wil and Zach. You won't find another pair of people as dedicated and passionate about their work as those two, and it shows in the quality of video content they produce. They have bright futures in the industry and these awards certainly prove that."

The 2017-18 CoSIDA Publications and Digital Design Contest are split into two different divisions. The University Division features all NCAA Division I institutions, while Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA institutions are in the College Division. At least 30 entries were submitted for each category in which Florida Southern was recognized.
