  • Browning Extends Hit Streak to 16 Games As Mocs Take PBA Series Finale, 7-2

    WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Logan Browning went 3-for-5 and Jacob Teter added his 10th home run as No. 2 Florida Southern downed Palm Beach Atlantic, 7-2, in the Sunshine State Conference series finale played here Saturday at J.M. "Jake" Rubin Park. Browning has now had at least one base hit in 16 consecutive games while Teter becomes the third Moccasin this season to reach double digits in home runs.

    WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Florida Southern used a pair of four-run innings to post a 10-1 win in game one and then saw its 11-game hit streak come to a hold with a 7-4 loss in game as the Moccasins split a Friday doubleheader at Palm Beach Atlantic in Sunshine State Conference action here at Jake Rubin Park. With the split, the No. 2 ranked Moccasins stand at 33-5-1 overall and 16-4 in the conference while the Sailfish move to 22-21 and 10-13 in the conference.
  • Forecast Forces Change in Series at Palm Beach Atlantic

    WEST PALM BEACH - Due to rains in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, the schedule for Florida Southern's series at Palm Beach Atlantic this weekend has been altered. The two teams will play a doubleheader Friday at 1 p.m. and then a single game Saturday at noon. Originally, the series was to be played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

    MELBOURNE, FL – Thanks to a season-high 11 strikeout, seven shutout inning performance, senior Logan Browning has been recognized with the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week honor. This is the second time this season and fourth time in his career the Lakeland native has been so honored. He was twice selected as a sophomore (and was also one-time Player of the Week) and named once last year as a junior.

    TEMPE, AZ - For the second straight week, Florida Southern is ranked second in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine's NCAA Division II poll. The Moccasins were ranked third in the first five regular-season polls before moving up to number two last week.
  • Mocs Ride Big Bats in Game One, Niekro's Arm in Game Two to Sweep Panthers

    LAKELAND - J.J. Niekro tossed eight innings of three-hit ball and struck out six as second-ranked Florida Southern topped Florida Tech, 4-1, in game two to sweep a doubleheader from the Panthers on Saturday in Sunshine State Conference play here at Henley Field. In game one, Hayden Marze homered and Logan Browning tripled in two runs as the Mocs posted a 6-3 win. Florida Southern, which has now won 10 straight, stands at 32-4-1 overall and 15-6 in the SSC while the Panthers drop to 14-24 and 6-12.
  • Baseball Changes Weekend Schedule

    LAKELAND - Due to rain in the forecast for Sunday, the Florida Southern and Florida Tech weekend games at Henley Field, originally scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m., will now be played as a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m. Friday's 6 p.m. will be played as scheduled.

    LAKELAND - Logan Browning struck out a season-high 11 batters in seven shutout innings while Florida Southern put up a pair of six-run innings as the second-ranked Moccasins breezed to a 15-2 win over Florida Tech in Sunshine State Conference action here Friday at Henley Field. The win, the Moccasins' eighth in a row, moves the Mocs to 30-4-1 overall and 13-3 in the SSC while the Panthers drop to 14-22 and 6-10.

  • Browning Named to Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List

    DURHAM, N.C. – Logan Browning has been named to the Golden Spikes Award midseason watch list as announced today by USA Baseball. The Golden Spikes Award is emblematic of the top amateur baseball player in the country. Presented in partnership with the Rod Dedeaux Foundation, the 41st Golden Spikes Award will be presented on June 28 in Los Angeles.

    TEMPE, AZ - Following a three-game sweep of conference foe Rollins and riding a seven-game win streak, Florida Southern has moved up to number two in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine weekly NCAA Division II National released today. The ranking is the highest for the Moccasins in the poll since a number two position on Feb. 21, 2011. FSC had been ranked number three in each of the previous five regular-season polls this season.

    WINTER PARK, FL - Trailing 3-1 and down to their last strike, Florida Southern rallied for four runs with two outs in the top of the ninth to erase a 3-1 deficit and sweep a series from Rollins with a 5-3 victory over the Tars in the Sunshine State Conference series finale here Sunday at the Harold Alfond Stadium. Logan Browning hit an infield single to score two runs and tie the game while Hayden Marze followed with his 15th home run of the season as the third-ranked Moccasins win their seventh straight game to improve to 29-4-1 overall and 12-3 in the SSC. Rollins, which has now lost nine straight, drops to 16-17 and 4-11.

    WINTER PARK, FL - Pablo Cabrera drove in five runs and third-ranked Florida Southern scored eight runs in each of the seventh and ninth innings to hand Rollins a 22-5 defeat Saturday in Sunshine State Conference baseball here Saturday at Harold Alfond Stadium. The win is the Moccasins' sixth straight and raises the team's record to 28-4-1 overall and 11-3 in the SSC while Rollins, which has lost eight straight, falls to 16-16 overall and 4-10 in the league.

    WINTER PARK, FL - Florida Southern scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 6-6 tie and back a nine-strikeout relief appearance by J.T. Hintzen as the third-ranked Moccasins defeated Rollins, 10-6, in Sunshine State Conference action here Friday at Harold Alfond Stadium. Florida Southern, which has won five in a row, improves to 27-4-1 overall and 10-3 in the SSC while Rollins drops to 16-15 and 4-9. The game featured three lead changes in the first four innings after the Moccasins scored three runs in the top of the second.

    For the fifth consecutive week, the Florida Southern baseball team is ranked No. 3 in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II national poll. The Moccasins have been ranked in the third slot in every regular season poll by the magazine this season.
  • Browning Collects Eight Hits on The Day as Mocs Sweep Series from Embry-Riddle

    DAYTONA BEACH - Florida Southern overcame a 5-0 deficit with a nine-run sixth inning to defeat Embry-Riddle 12-6 in game two of a Friday doubleheader here at Sliwa Stadium. The Mocs took game one, 12-3 behind a pair of home runs by Hayden Marze. With the sweep, the 3rd-ranked Moccasins move to 26-4-1 on the season with a 9-3 mark in the Sunshine State Conference while the Eagles fall top 10-19 and 6-9. Florida Southern outscored Embry-Riddle 50-13 in the three-game series and outhit the Eagles, 52-26. The Moccasins have now scored 71 runs and collected 69 hits during their recent four-game win streak.

    LAKELAND - Florida Southern broke open a close game with a five-run fifth inning and added 14 more runs in the next two innings combined to win game two, 23-4, and gain a split of a Saturday Sunshine State Conference doubleheader here at Henley Field. The Moccasins (23-4-1, 6-3 SSC) outhit the Knights (19-12, 8-7 SSC) by a 17-6 margin as four Moccasin pitchers combined on the six-hitter. Lynn hit five home runs to take game one, 15-4.

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College inducted five new members to its Athletics Hall of Fame on Thursday evening during its 16th annual Hall of Fame Banquet at Jenkins Field House. The five-member class included Pete Meyer (baseball), Jordan McAfee (volleyball), Matt Stauch (men's golf), Mary O'Sullivan (women's swimming), and David Jenkins (honorary).

Burgess hit a three-run home run in the second inning of game one and then won game two with a walk-off homer on the first pitch of the bottom of the ninth.

    TIGERVILLE, SC - Florida Southern College baseball jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but could not overcome a four-run bottom of the first from North Greenville in a 7-3 loss in Wednesday at Ashmore Park. The Moccasins (17-2-1) dropped their first non-conference contest of the season, while the Crusaders (16-4) won their second-straight game and moved to 7-0 at home this season.
