Mocs Maintain No. 3 National Ranking

For the fifth consecutive week, the Florida Southern baseball team is ranked No. 3 in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II national poll. The Moccasins have been ranked in the third slot in every regular season poll by the magazine this season.

Florida Southern is 26-4-1 overall and 9-3 in the Sunshine State Conference following a three-game sweep of Embry-Riddle over the weekend. The Moccasins outscored (50-13) and outhit (52-26) in the series. Logan Browning had eight hits in the Saturday doubleheader and was the winning pitcher on Friday night while Hayden Marze knocked out four home runs and drove in eight more.

Azusa Pacific (27-3) holds down the number one slot for a second straight week, while North Greenville (28-5) is ranked second once again. The Moccasins are third followed by Tampa (25-5), and Delta State (24-6). Rounding out the top ten are Belmont Abbey (28-5), Colorado Mesa (21-8), West Texas A&M (26-7), New Haven (20-3), and Columbus State (26-6).

The Moccasins led the Sunshine State Conference with a .326 team batting average, 293 runs scored, 361 hits, 12 triples, and 51 home runs. Browning is the top hitter in the league with a .456 mark - 48 points higher than the second-ranked player - and is second in on-base percentage. Hayden Marze is tops in the SSC with 14 homers while Cody is tied for the conference lead with 37 runs scored.

Florida Southern will be on the road this weekend to face Rollins College in Winter Park on Friday through Sunday, April 6-8.
