Lalli Named Men's Lacrosse Team's Most Valuable Player

Matt Lalli has been named the Most Valuable Player for the Florida Southern men's lacrosse team by Moccasin Head Coach Marty Ward.

Lalli, who is the first Moccasin ever named to the USILA Scholar All-America team, graduated from Florida Southern in May with a cumulative GPA of 3.67 and a degree in business administration. The New Milford, Conn. native has been serving his alma mater in a full-time capacity as an admissions counselor since his graduation.

This past season, Lalli ranked 12th among all Division II goalkeepers in saves per game (12.60) while ranking 22nd in save percentage (.545). He earned three Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors during the year and was named as the USILA Division II National Defensive Player of the Week on March 9. Lalli was also selected to the USILA/Nike North-South All-Star Game and was a member of the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

During his four years at Florida Southern, Lalli set the program record for wins (32), saves (686) and games played (62), finishing second in career save-percentage (.526). He also holds the top three spots in the single-season saves category, including a school-record 216 as a junior. His 22 saves in a upset of No. 17 Lake Erie on Feb. 28 rank second in school history for saves in a single game.
