  • Jason Carlson Announced as Florida Southern's New Head Men's Soccer Coach

    Director of Athletics Pete Meyer has announced the hiring of Jason Carlson as the new head coach of the Florida Southern College men’s soccer program. Carlson is joining the Moccasins from the University of Upper Iowa where he spent the last four seasons as head coach, and he’s been coaching at the college level since 2005. Carlson will be the sixth head coach in the history of Florida Southern men's soccer, which played its first varsity season in 1957.

  • 75 Student-Athletes Named to Fall SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll

    MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern College had 75 student-athletes named to the Fall SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Sunshine State Conference announced on Friday. The Moccasins ranked second among all SSC schools in the total number of student-athletes honored, and had the most with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (27).

Earning Second Team All-SSC honors were sophomore defender Callum Carsley and senior goalkeeper Cole Clingerman. Both Moccasins are earning all-conference honors for the first time in their careers.

    LAKELAND – Jacob Ling-Vannerus and Daniel Moore scored goals Saturday night, and four different Moccasins picked up assists, but a goal by Barry in the 70th minute broke a tie score and sent the Buccaneers on to a 3-2 win over Florida Southern at Barnett Field.
  • Men's Soccer Team Puts Two on Academic All-District Team With Carl Spansk and Luke Bromley

    For the second year in a row, Florida Southern’s Carl Spansk has been named to the Academic All-District Team, but this time the junior midfielder isn’t alone. Sophomore defender Luke Bromley joins him in 2016 as an Academic All-District selection in his first year of eligibility for that honor. It’s the first time in six years the Moccasins have had two players make the team, and the first time ever they’ve had two underclassman make it.

    BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Southern went head-to-head with one of the nation’s top Division II teams Wednesday night and nearly pulled off one of its biggest wins. However, a goal by Jack Watson in the 39th minute held up the rest of the night and sent 5th-ranked Lynn University on to a 1-0 win over the Moccasins.

With a scheduled game at Lynn postponed on Saturday, it was the Mocs’ only game of the week.
  • Florida Southern Soccer Teams Again Rank Among the Top Academic Programs in the Country

    The Florida Southern soccer teams made it five years in a row where both squads were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American with the annual Team Academic Award. The men's team has now earned that award 10 consecutive years, while the women have been on the list for the last five. The men were tied for #3 among all Division II schools with their 3.45 team GPA, and the women were 13th with a team GPA of 3.56.

    LAKELAND – Down 2-0 at halftime, Florida Southern came all the way back in the second half with four unanswered goals, all of which involved sophomore Joseph Ammer, and Cole Clingerman saved a penalty kick in the closing minutes to help the Moccasins defeat Rollins 4-3 at Barnett Field Wednesday night. It was the first time in team history the Moccasins ever came back from two goals down in the second half to win a Sunshine State Conference game.

    TAMPA – Jacob Ling-Vannerus put Florida Southern on the board with 3:48 remaining, pulling the Moccasins within a goal, but #7 Tampa was able to hold on after that for a 2-1 victory over the Moccasins Wednesday night. With the win Tampa improves to 6-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Sunshine State Conference, while Florida Southern is now 3-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the SSC.

    WEST PALM BEACH – Palm Beach Atlantic scored one goal early in the game and added three more in the second half to post a 4-0 win over Florida Southern on Saturday night, moving the Moccasins’ overall record to 3-2 and their conference record to 1-1. The Sailfish are now 3-2-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.

By winning their first Sunshine State Conference match of the season, the Moccasins are now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the SSC, while the Sharks fall to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

  • Newcomers Account for All the Scoring in 5-0 Season Opening Win Over Warner

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Freshman Jacob Ling-Vannerus scored in the 33rd minute to give Florida Southern a 1-0 halftime lead and later scored the final goal of the night to cap a 5-0 win over Warner in the Moccasins’ 2016 season opener. The Moccasins also received goals from three other newcomers and out-shot the Royals 21-3 in the match.
