    CLEVELAND, OH - Florida Southern College had 105 student-athletes named as D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award recipients, the D2 Athletic Directors Association announced on Thursday.

  • Florida Southern Places 169 Student-Athletes on SSC Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll

    MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern College place 169 student-athletes on the SSC Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll, the Sunshine State Conference office announced on Tuesday morning, placing the Moccasins second among all 11 SSC member institutions. In addition, the Mocs had a conference-best 60 student-athletes finish with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average for the spring semester, nearly twice as many as second-place Florida Tech (36).

  • 76 Moccasins Named to Fall SSC Honor Roll

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - A total of 651 student-athletes, inlcuding 76 from Florida Southern College, have been named to the 2017 Fall Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll; it was announced Wednesday, March 7th by Commissioner Ed Pasque. A total of 142 student-athletes carried a perfect 4.00 grade-point average for the fall semester.
  • Carl Spansk Named First Team Academic All-American in Men's Soccer

    Having already made the academic all-district team three years in a row, Florida Southern defender/midfielder Carl Spansk has now been voted to the 2017 Division II Men’s Soccer Academic All-America Team, which honors student-athletes who have the best combination of athletic and academic success. He's now the third player in team history to earn that distinction. The senior from Mora, Sweden concluded his career this year having made more appearances and more starts than any other Moccasin over the last four seasons.

    Florida Southern senior Carl Spansk has been voted to the 2017 Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team, marking the third year in a row the senior defender/midfielder has earned that honor. He earned that distinction while continuing to maintain his perfect 4.00 grade point average coming into this season.

    Florida Southern hits the road tonight to begin the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament with a quarterfinal game in Boca Raton at Lynn University. The Moccasins enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed, with the Knights seeded No. 3. The winner advances to the semifinal round to take on No. 2 seed Tampa on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Both semifinal games on Friday and the championship game on Sunday are being hosted by top-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic.

    BOCA RATON – Three days after nearly knocking off the No. 19 ranked team in the country at the end of the regular season, Florida Southern (7-7) got another chance to take on Lynn in the quarterfinal round of the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Tournament. However, the Knights (11-3-1) once again found a way to win, this time using a free kick at the end of the first overtime period to defeat the Moccasins 1-0.

    AUBURNDALE, FL – A goal by Lynn University on a corner kick in the 78th minute was the only one either team could muster in a game played entirely in the rain, but even with the 1-0 loss, Florida Southern still earned a spot in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament. Moments after falling to the No. 19 team in the country, the Moccasins learned Barry had lost to Eckerd, pushing Florida Southern through for the first time in four years.

    MIAMI SHORES, FL – Benny Yusufoglu kept Florida Southern in the game and Barry off the scoreboard for 100 minutes Wednesday night before a goal by Miles Francis 21 seconds into the second overtime gave the Buccaneers a 1-0 victory. It leaves the two teams still fighting for the final spot in next week’s Sunshine State Conference Tournament with one regular season game remaining.

  • Soccer Teams Again Claim National Academic Honors

    For the sixth year in a row, both Florida Southern soccer teams have been honored by the United Soccer Coaches as having one of the top academic programs in the country. The men’s team has now won the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 11th consecutive year, and the women have been on the list for the last six years. The women were ranked No. 7 among all Division II schools with a team GPA of 3.62, and the men were tied for 18th with a 3.29 GPA. The award covers the full 2016-17 academic year.

    With the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex not yet ready to host a match following Hurricane Irma the Florida Southern women’s soccer game against Rollins College scheduled for Wednesday night in Auburndale has been moved to Rollins College in Winter Park. That game will now be played as part of a doubleheader with the Florida Southern men’s soccer match that was already scheduled for Wednesday night at Rollins.

  • New Year Begins for Florida Southern Men’s Soccer Team Saturday Night Under New Head Coach

    The Moccasin men’s soccer kicks off a 16-game regular season schedule this Saturday at home against Shorter University at 7 p.m. The game, which is being played at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale, will also be the first for Jason Carlson, who was hired in May as the sixth head coach in the 61-year history of the Florida Southern men’s soccer program. Carlson has joined the Moccasins after guiding Upper Iowa to a 39-27-5 record from 2013-16, and the school’s first NCAA Tournament berth in 2015.
