Alvarez-Hevia Named MVP of Men's Tennis Team

Miguel Alvarez-Hevia has been selected Most Valuable Player of the Florida Southern men's tennis team by former Moccasin head coach, Trey Heath.

Alvarez-Hevia led the Moccasins with 14 wins, comprising a 14-6 season record in 2017, including an 11-4 record at number five singles. He was also 1-0 at number three and 2-2 at number four. Paired with Laurent Mailloux, Alvarez-Hevia had a 10-10 record in doubles, with a 9-10 mark at number one.

The Asturias, Spain native won six straight singles matches from Feb. 27 to March 10, including four wins in straight sets. After the streak was snapped, the senior came back to win four more consecutive matches. He ended the 2017 season by splitting his final six outings.

Alvarerz-Hevia was named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll following his senior campaign.
