NASHVILLE, TN - Mason Jones placed 12th to lead Florida Southern to a fifth-place finish at the Trevecca Division II Showcase Invitational here Saturday at the Percy Warner Park. The Moccasins totaled 150 points in the race that featured 16 teams.
Jones, a freshman running in his first collegiate 8K, led Florida Southern with a 26:34.9 time to finish 12th out of 145 runners.
Sophomore Warran Grajalez was the next Moccasin across the line, taking 18th place at 26:48.5 (his second-fastest 8K in his FSC career) while junior Dean McGregor placed 33rd with a 27:17.8 time. Senior Evan Quinones came in 39th at 27:30.7 while freshman Josh Wagner was 53rd with a time of 27:56.7. A trio of Moccasins was next Evan Williams placing 62nd at 28:13.3, Mitchell Kozik was just 3/10 of a second behind at 28:13.6, and senior John Bryant just 2/10 of a second later at 28:13.8. The time for Bryant is a personal best.
The Mocs ran without the Sept. 2 Holloway Park Preseason Festival winner, Bobby Ormsby, who was a late scratch due to injury.
Florida Southern will run next on Friday, Oct. 6 at the Florida State Invitational in Tallahassee, FL.
