NEW ORLEANS – Florida Southern, which was off this past weekend, dropped one spot to fifth in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Regional Poll released Tuesday. The Moccasins were ranked fourth last week after back-to-back weeks at number three.
Florida Southern returns to action this Friday, Oct. 6 at the Florida State Invitational in Tallahassee. The men's squad runs at 7:40 a.m. with the women's race to follow at 8:20.
Lee holds on to the top spot in the regional poll for a fourth straight week while Alabama-Huntsville moves up one spot to number two, followed by Saint Leo which jumps up from fifth to number three. Emry-Riddle, which was ranked second last week, drops down to number four followed by the Moccasins.
Tampa and Christian Brothers swapped places in the poll with Tampa moving up to number six and Christian Brothers dropping to number seven. Florida Tech leaps up from #10 to eighth place while Montevallo slides down one to number nine. North Alabama, unranked last week, wraps up the poll at number 10.
The USTFCCCA NCAA Division II region polls are released every week during the regular season. The poll ranks the Top 10 men's and women's cross country teams in each of the eight NCAA regions. Eight regional representatives coordinate the voting in their own region with input from the coaches.
