LAKELAND, FL – Florida Southern College women's basketball head coach Betsy Harris has released her team's schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The Moccasins will play 14 home games, and will host the four-team Terrace Hotel Classic in December.
Florida Southern is coming off a 25-5 record a year ago and is the defending Sunshine State Conference regular-season and tournament champion. The Mocs will face three opponents that advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago, and will face an always-difficult SSC slate.
The season begins with a trip to Saint Leo for a pair of games at the SSC-GSC Challenge. The Moccasins will take on Gulf South Conference foes Lee (Nov. 9) and Shorter (Nov. 10) to open the year.
FSC's home slate tips off with a contest against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez (Nov. 19) before the team travels just a short distance west on I4 to face Le Moyne (Nov. 23) and Deamen (Nov. 24) at the Eckerd Thanksgiving Classic.
Conference play begins with back-to-back home games against Tampa (Nov. 28) and Embry-Riddle (Dec. 5). The two SSC contests are the start of a five-game homestand that will see the Mocs face off with Bluefield State (Dec. 13), Saginaw Valley State (Dec. 17) and defending G-MAC champion Cedarville (Dec. 18).
The remainder of the schedule is comprised exclusively of conference opponents, with key home matchups against Eckerd (Jan. 16) and Rollins (March 2). The Mocs also have home contests with Lynn (Jan. 5), Saint Leo (Jan. 23), Nova Southeastern (Feb. 2), Florida Tech (Feb. 6), Palm Beach Atlantic (Feb. 13), and Barry (Feb. 23).
This year's SSC Tournament begins with quarterfinal matchups at the higher-seeded team on March 6, with the semifinals and championship set for March 9-10 in Fort Lauderdale.
