MELBOURNE, FL – Florida Southern landed three players on the 2017 All-Sunshine State Conference Women’s Soccer Team announced by the league office Thursday, November 2. All three were second team selections, with forwards Anna Griessler and Alexa Moberley, and defender Juliana Guida making the All-SSC Team for the first time in their careers.
Florida Southern opens play in the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament tonight by squaring off against Florida Tech in the quarterfinal round. The Moccasins enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed, with the Panthers seeded No. 6. The winner advances to the semifinal round to take on No. 2 seed Barry on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Both semifinal games on Friday and the championship game on Sunday are being hosted by top-seeded Nova Southeastern.

AUBURNDALE – In a back and forth game that all of the scoring come in the second, Florida Tech used a free kick and a corner kick, sandwiched around a long-distance goal by Anna Griessler to come away with a 2-1 victory over Florida Southern in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament quarterfinals Tuesday night.
BOCA RATON – Ten goals went up on the board in the regular season finale for Florida Southern, and with half of them going to each team, the Moccasins ended it with a 5-5 tie at Lynn on Saturday night. With rain falling throughout the night, the game was stopped after the first overtime period due to unplayable field conditions brought on by rain from Tropical Storm Philippe.
Barry Ends Florida Southern's Unbeaten Streak; Moccasins Still Secure First-Round Home Game in SSC Tournament
AUBURNDALE, FL – Barry scored two goals three minutes apart in the first half, and though an own goal by the Buccaneers early in the second gave Florida Southern life, the Moccasins were unable to score after that and dropped a 2-1 decision that ended their nine-game unbeaten streak.
Week two of the NCAA regional rankings have several teams moving up or down in the South, with Florida Southern falling one spot into seventh heading into the final week of the regular season. (With the rankings conducted earlier in the week, the poll released on October 25 does not take into account Wednesday night’s results.) The regional rankings are used to determine selections for the NCAA Tournament, with six teams from each of the eight geographical regions in Division II earning bids.

Combined with other results from around the Sunshine State Conference, the win clinched a spot in the SSC Tournament for the Moccasins.
Metcalfe Beats Halftime Horn with Go-Ahead Goal and Florida Southern Goes on to Post 3-2 Win Over Eckerd
AUBURNDALE, FL – Candace Metcalfe barely beat the halftime horn for a goal that put Florida Southern ahead, and Anna Griessler continued her run of success against Eckerd with one goal and one assist as the Moccasins defeated the Tritons 3-2 Wednesday night.
The first NCAA Division II South Region ranking has been released and the Florida Southern Moccasins are sixth in the poll used to determine selections for the NCAA Tournament in November. Six teams will be selected from each of the eight geographical regions in Division II, putting Florida Southern in one of those spots as of October 18.
