  • Swimming Teams Move up in January 16 National Polls

    The first national poll of the new semester has been released by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) and both the Florida Southern women’s and men’s teams have moved up in the rankings. The women have moved from receiving votes to No. 18 in the poll, and the men are up from 19th to No. 13. The January 16 poll is the last of the regular season.
  • Whittenburg is SSC Women's Swimmer of the Week

    MELBOURNE, FL – Florida Southern’s Jacinda Whittenburg has been named the Sunshine State Conference Women’s Swimmer-of-the-Week for her performance in the Moccasins’ first two meets of the spring semester. The senior from Lakewood, Colorado was the only Moccasin women’s swimmer to win at least one individual race in both meets against NCAA Division III national champion Emory and Division II 6th-ranked Nova Southeastern.
  • Breault Sweeps Backstroke Events & Whittenburg Wins 200-IM, but Nova Southeastern Takes the Meet, 179-83

    LAKELAND, FL – Peyton Breault swept the two backstroke events, and Jacinda Whittenburg picked up a win in the 200-IM, but 6th-ranked Nova Southeastern won the remaining races to pick up a 179-83 decision over Florida Southern on a chilly Saturday afternoon.
  • NCAA Division III National Champs Down Florida Southern in Women’s Swimming to Start Spring Semester

    LAKELAND, FL – With Jacinda Whittenburg winning the 200-breaststroke and finishing as runner-up in the 200-IM, and Rebeka Dics and Krystal Karas each picking up a second and third in their individual races, Florida Southern fell to defending NCAA Division III national champion Emory 140-65 on Friday.

    With the first semester of the 2017-18 season now complete, the Florida Southern men's swimming team is ranked No. 19 in the December 19 CSCAA national poll, and the women's team is among those receiving votes. The rankings are voted on by a committee of CSCAA member coaches.
  • Women’s Swimming Team Completes Spartan Invitational with Four More Individual and One More Relay NCAA Provisional Times

    CLEARWATER, FL – Led by a fourth-place finish from Peyton Breault in the 200-backstroke, Florida Southern had four more NCAA provisional qualifying times among its individual swimmers, and closed out the four-day Spartan Invitational with another “B” time in the 400-freestyle relay. That showing allowed the Moccasins to finish fifth in the team standings (third among Division II schools), while Division I Rice won the meet with a 272½-point margin over Nova Southeastern.
  • Hajdinjak Places Third in 100-Butterfly as Six Different Moccasin Women’s Swimmers Have NCAA Provisional Times on Day Three of Spartan Invitational

    CLEARWATER, FL – One day after five of their swimmers had NCAA provisional qualifying times, the Moccasins did one better on Sunday with six of them doing so. Topping that list was Katja Hajdinjak, who had their best finish of the night by placing third in the 100-butterfly while setting a school record in that event.
  • Breault and Moore Start Run of Multiple NCAA Provisional Qualifying Times on Day Two of Spartan Invitational

    CLEARWATER, FL – Five different Moccasin swimmers had NCAA provisional qualifying times on Saturday, a run started by Peyton Breault and Katie Moore in the 500-freestyle, part of Florida Southern’s second day performance at the Spartan Invitational.

    With three dual meets and two other larger meets in the books, the Florida Southern men’s swimming team is ranked No. 11 in the November 15 College Swimming Coaches Association of America national poll, while the women’s team is among those receiving votes. The rankings are voted on by CSCAA-member coaches and aim to measure how the top teams would perform in head-to-head competition.

    LAKELAND, FL – Rebeka Dics and Maria Di Bella each posted two individual wins, and five other Moccasins were also in the win column as Florida Southern swept its Friday night meet with Rollins for a 171-33 victory over the Tars.
  • Whittenburg Gives FSC Win in 200-Breaststroke, Breault & Hajdinjak Each Have a Runner-Up Finish in Quad Meet at FSU

    TALLAHASSEE, FL – Jacinda Whittenburg picked up a win in the 200-breaststroke, Peyton Breault was second in the 500-freestyle, and Katja Hajdinjak had a runner-up finish in the 100-butterfly to lead Florida Southern in a quad meet at Florida State on Saturday. The Moccasins were competing against Division I schools Florida State and North Florida, along with West Florida. Their performance enabled them to beat UNF 159-100, while dropping a 151-140 decision to West Florida. Florida State defeated the Moccasins 186-91, and the Seminoles also posted wins over West Florida and North Florida.
  • Four Different Swimmers Post Individual Wins for Florida Southern, Though Tampa Wins the Meet, 166-96

    LAKELAND – Florida Southern got individual wins from Haley DeGrace, Peyton Breault, Jacinda Whittenburg, and Katja Hajdinjak, with Whittenburg adding a second win, but Tampa’s strong start to the meet allowed the Spartans to defeat the Moccasins 166-96 Friday night. It was Florida Southern’s first dual meet of the season, and the Mocs’ 2017-18 home opener.

    LAKELAND, FL - After two larger multi-team meets to open the season, the Florida Southern swimming teams will be making their first appearance at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center this Friday night in a dual meet against the University of Tampa. Scheduled start time is 6 p.m. Both the men’s and women’s teams from each school are nationally ranked, with the Moccasin men at No. 9, and the Spartan men at No. 10; and the Spartan women ranked No. 14, and the Moccasin women ranked No. 22.

    DAVIE, FL - Peyton Breault won the 200-yard backstroke for Florida Southern's lone individual victory as the Moccasins finished seventh of eight teams at the NSU Shark Invitational held here Friday and Saturday at the NSU Aquatic Complex. FSC totaled 296 while the host Sharks won the event with 780 points.

  • Allyson Sweeney Joins Florida Southern Coaching Staff as Assistant Swimming Coach

    LAKELAND - Florida Southern head swimming coach Mike Blum has announced the hiring of Allyson Sweeney as the Moccasins’ new assistant coach. Sweeney is joining the staff by way of the nationally renowned USA Swimming club team, SwimAtlanta, where she has served as the head age group coach at the SwimAtlanta - Midway site, located in Cumming, Georgia alongside head site coach, Landon Harris. During her two years there, Sweeney oversaw the development of the location’s age group swimming and strength & conditioning training programs, producing several 14-and-under Georgia State champions and Georgia Zone team qualifiers.
  • Florida Southern Swimming Schedule Announced

    LAKELAND – The 2017-18 Florida Southern swimming schedules have been announced, with a total of 10 regular season meets on tap. Five of those will be at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool on the campus of Florida Southern College, and the remaining five will take the Moccasins on the road across the state of Florida. The season culminates with the Sunshine State Conference Championships in late February, and the NCAA Division II National Championships in March.
