    FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - Florida Southern College volleyball clinched its eighth Sunshine State Conference championship with a 3-0 win over Nova Southeastern on Friday evening at Rick Case Arena. The No. 22 Moccasins (24-6, 18-1 SSC) picked up their 17th win in a row and finished off the season sweep of the Sharks (6-20, 4-15) to win their first conference title since 2006, and the programs first outright SSC championship since 1990.

The victory pulled the Moccasins (9-6, 6-1 SSC) into a second-place tie with Saint Leo in the SSC standings, while the Eagles (4-7, 2-6) dropped their fourth-straight match. The Mocs will travel to Saint Leo on Tuesday for a pivotal conference showdown before heading to Hoover, AL for the South Region Crossover from Oct. 13-14.

The Moccasins (8-6, 5-1 SSC) hit nearly .300 on the attack and held the Panthers (4-6, 2-5) to just .067 en route to their fifth win in their last six contests. The victory also kept the Mocs near the top of the conference standings. FSC will head to Embry-Riddle on Saturday at 4 p.m. to cap off the weekend.

The Moccasins (7-6, 4-1 SSC) competed hard all day, but the Sailfish (12-0, 7-0) used late runs in the first and second set to take a commanding two-set lead en route to their 37th-straight home victory.

The victory marked the first time since early in the 2015 campaign that the Mocs have swept three-straight SSC opponents, and the four-match win streak ties last year's season-best winning streak.
