Mike Moran joined the Moccasins as an assistant athletic director in 2019 and helps oversee athletic alumni relations, community engagement, facilities scheduling, and student-athlete accountability. He came to Florida Southern after more than two decades of law enforcement experience with the City of Lakeland Police Department.
A 1989 graduate of Florida Southern, Moran has an extensive background in staff management, including training at the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the completion of the Certified Public Manager Program through Florida State University.
In his role with LPD, Moran was responsible for all public, private, and secondary school safety in the City of Lakeland. Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2011, Moran has served on the National Alumni Board of Directors at Florida Southern since 2014, is a member of the Board of Directors at First United Methodist Church of Lakeland, and was previously on the Board of Directors for the Police Athletic League of Lakeland.

A native of Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y., Moran played soccer for the Moccasins in 1985 and 1986, making 14 starts as a freshman in 1985 while scoring three goals and notching one assist.
He and his wife Beth, a 1993 Florida Southern graduate, have one daughter, Caitlin.
