Big Changes in Collegiate Baseball Poll; Mocs Fall to Sixth

TEMPE, AZ - Following losses in the final two games of the Saint Leo series last Friday, Florida Southern has fallen to sixth in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine's NCAA Division II poll after holding onto the number two spot for four consecutive weeks. 

Florida Southern stands at 37-8-1 on the season and 20-7 in the SSC and will wrap up the regular season on the road at Tampa on May 11-12. The Spartans (38-7), which have clinched the SSC championship, move up two spots to number four.

Delta State (38-8) takes over as the nation's number one ranked team, moving up from number three, while Illinois Springfield (45-5) jumps up three spots to number two. North Greenville (44-8), last week's top-ranked team, drops to number three, while Azusa Pacific (37-7) moves down one spot to number five.

Florida Southern is tied with Georgia College (39-10) for the number slot followed by West Texas A&M (38-11), Nova Southeastern (32-13), and Columbus State (38-11).

The Moccasins are now second in the Sunshine State Conference lead with a .321 batting average and sits atop the conference with 409 runs scored, 536 hits, and are tied for the SSC-lead with 70 home runs.

Logan Browning, who will take a 20-game hit streak into the Tampa series, is the SSC's leading hitter with a .455 average and is second with a .514 on-base percentage. Hayden Marze is second in the conference with 19 home runs, one shy of the FSC school record, while topping the league with 61 RBI.

On the mound, reliever J.T. Hintzen, has a conference-best 11 wins (against no losses), while Browning owns an 8-2 record.
