Scott Named 2019 MVP

LAKELAND, Fla. - Throughout the month of July, Florida Southern College Athletics will release its list of team MVPs for the 2018-19 season. Each MVP was selected by the team's head coach, and the list includes some of the top student-athletes in the country. MVPs will be revealed each weekday during the month at 10 a.m., and a list of their scheduled release dates can be found below.

This year's baseball MVP is third baseman Zach Scott, who earned first team all-SSC and NCBWA Honorable Mention all-South accolades in his first year at the hot corner for the Moccasins. Scott played in all 50 games for the Mocs and led the team in at-bats (205), hits (67), runs (42), doubles (14), and home runs (8). He was second in both batting average (.327) and RBI (41). Scott also flashed the leather in the field, committing just five errors and posting a .964 fielding percentage while recording 81 assists and 53 putouts for a squad that led the Sunshine State Conference in fielding percentage.

On the season, Scott recorded a hit in 40 different games with 21 multi-hit games. He drove in multiple runs in 10 different games, with a season-high five RBI in a 17-1 win over eventual SSC champion Eckerd on March 16.
