MELBOURNE and LAKELAND, Fla. – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and with the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes and all those in our campus communities as our highest priority, the Sunshine State Conference Presidents Council announces the postponement of all scheduled competitions in the fall sports season. This includes men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, and women’s volleyball.
LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College Athletics has announced major academic and athletic awards for the 2019-20 school year. The Academic Awards are presented to the junior or senior who has the highest grade point average on the team. The Most Valuable Player Awards were selected by the head coach for each respective program.
LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College athletics department released a new, modern logo set for Moccasin esports on Monday. The new branding is specific to the budding esports program and marks a new page in the continued development of the sport.
IRVINE, Calif. - The Florida Southern College esports Hearthstone and Overwatch teams will resume their spring seasons as TESPA announced a resume to play earlier this month. All play, including finals, will take place online with the Moccasin athletes playing from home.
LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics was recognized for its community service efforts over the 2019-20 academic year, logging 4,313 total hours since July 1, 2019. As a department the Mocs ranked 25th among NCAA Division II schools nationally, and was the highest-ranked Sunshine State Conference member institution.

MELBOURNE, Fla. - In alignment with yesterday’s NCAA Board of Governors Resolution, the Sunshine State Conference has canceled all league competitions and championships for the spring 2020 semester, effectively immediately. Member institutions will exercise institutional discretion as to practice and regular-season non-conference competition in all sports for the spring 2020 semester. This decision was unanimously agreed upon by the SSC Presidents Council and SSC Athletic Directors Council with the health, safety, and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and campus communities in mind.
LAKELAND – The NCAA has issued a statement regarding all winter and sport championships that will cancel all championships. Hence, the NCAA Men’s Basketball South Region Championship, originally scheduled to be held at the Jenkins Field House at Florida Southern, has been canceled.

The Florida Southern esports League of Legend team had a perfect start to its inaugural PBC campaign, taking down 2019 PBC reigning champion USC Aiken, 2-0, on Saturday and Young Harris, 2-0, on Sunday. The Moccasins (2-0) totaled 112 kills in its four games against the Pacers (1-1) and the Mountain Lions (0-2), allowing only 19 to the Pacers and three to the Mountain Lions.
"We couldn't be happier to start this season in the Peach Belt Conference with two dominant wins," head coach Nate Carson said. "We only lost one tower in all four games, which shows how well our macro and objective control was in both series. The Moccasins (5-1) nearly pulled a reverse sweep against Northwood (5-1), but fell in the fifth game for a 3-2 loss. The Mocs rebounded with a 3-1 win over St. Clair (4-2), cementing themselves in the top five of the league with four more matches in the season.
