Mocs Men's Basketball Remains No. 6 in the Country

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Florida Southern College men's basketball team remains the No. 6 ranked team in the country, according to the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coaches Poll.

The new poll was released February 11, 2020. The Mocs have been mentioned in the poll this year every week since the preseason, when Southern was receiving votes. This is the second consecutive week the Mocs are ranked No. 6.

The last time the Mocs remained ranked this highly in the country was during the 2014-15 season, when Florida Southern topped out at No. 1 for the final five weeks of the season, en route to winning the national championship.

The Mocs are now 21-2 overall, and 13-2 in the Sunshine State conference, just a half-game ahead of No. 5 Nova Southeastern. On Saturday, February 15, Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern will meet for the second time this season, and the matchup will be broadcast by ESPN exclusively on ESPN.com and the ESPN app.

The Mocs are currently riding a nine-game winning streak, and have now won 18 of its last 19 games. Its lone loss since November came in a tightly-contested overtime defeat to then-No. 4 Nova Southeastern on Jan. 4.

Southern has now been ranked in the NABC Coaches Poll a total of 225 weeks, including 24 times under head coach Mike Donnelly.

Each of the top 11 spots went unchanged in the latest NABC/Division II rankings, which is headed by Northwest Missouri State for the third straight week.  The Bearcats, winners of 14 consecutive games, are followed in the top five again this week by Lincoln Memorial, West Texas A&M, UC San Diego and Nova Southeastern.
