  • FSC Men's Golf Earns GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award for 2019-20 Year

    NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has named the Florida Southern College men’s golf program an Outstanding Team Academic Award Winner for the 2019-20 year. The Mocs earned Presidents Special Recognition status, with a team GA of 3.50 or higher. Only 15 Division II schools earned this distinction. FSC was the only such program from the Sunshine State Conference.

    MELBOURNE and LAKELAND, Fla. – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and with the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes and all those in our campus communities as our highest priority, the Sunshine State Conference Presidents Council announces the postponement of all scheduled competitions in the fall sports season. This includes men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, and women’s volleyball.

    MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference has announced that 215 Florida College student-athletes, representing 12 different sports, have been named to the 2020 Sunshine State Conference Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll presented by Barnes & Noble College.

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College Athletics has announced major academic and athletic awards for the 2019-20 school year. The Academic Awards are presented to the junior or senior who has the highest grade point average on the team. The Most Valuable Player Awards were selected by the head coach for each respective program.
  • Four Mocs Men's Golfers Named GCAA All-America Scholars

    NORMAN, Okla. — Four Florida Southern College men’s golfers were honored by being named First Wave Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for Division II. The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the entire list of 614 student-athletes, including 376 players from Division I, 99 from Division II, 108 from Division III, 18 from NAIA, and 12 from NJCAA. Honored from Florida Southern are sophomore Adam Alvarez, sophomore Max Coutsolioutsos, senior Chase Ibbotson, and sophomore Johnny Tucker.
  • FSC Athletics Ranked 25th in 2019-20 Helper Helper Final Report

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics was recognized for its community service efforts over the 2019-20 academic year, logging 4,313 total hours since July 1, 2019. As a department the Mocs ranked 25th among NCAA Division II schools nationally, and was the highest-ranked Sunshine State Conference member institution.

  • All Florida Southern College Athletic Facilities Closed

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Until further notice, all athletic facilities at Florida Southern College are closed. This includes the Jenkins Field House, Gilbert Gymnasium, the Barnett Athletic Complex, Moccasin Field, Chris Bellotto Field, Henley Field, the Ruthven Courts, the Wellness Center and the Hollis Wellness Center Pool, Warden Tennis Courts, and all locker rooms.
  • SSC Cancels All Spring 2020 League Competitions and Championships

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - In alignment with yesterday’s NCAA Board of Governors Resolution, the Sunshine State Conference has canceled all league competitions and championships for the spring 2020 semester, effectively immediately. Member institutions will exercise institutional discretion as to practice and regular-season non-conference competition in all sports for the spring 2020 semester. This decision was unanimously agreed upon by the SSC Presidents Council and SSC Athletic Directors Council with the health, safety, and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and campus communities in mind.
  • NCAA Cancels all Winter and Spring Championships

    LAKELAND – The NCAA has issued a statement regarding all winter and sport championships that will cancel all championships. Hence, the NCAA Men’s Basketball South Region Championship, originally scheduled to be held at the Jenkins Field House at Florida Southern, has been canceled.

    MELBOURNE, Fla. – For the first time this spring, Florida Southern College freshman Chris Fosdick has been named the Sunshine State Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week. The award covers the week ending February 23, 2020. Though his first award this spring, it is his second overall, as he was named the Men’s Golfer back on September 16, 2019.
  • Mocs Day at Newberry Invitational Washed Out After Round Not Completed

    KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Florida Southern College men's golf team made a dramatic move in Round Three of the Newberry College Invitational, held at the Kiawah Island Ocean Course. However, the third round results will not count, as it was not fully completed due to heavy rains and darkness. Earlier in the day, Florida Southern had moved up and into fifth place, with a combined 292, the second best round from any school on the day.
  • Mocs Men's Golf Tied for 8th Place at Newberry Invitational After Second Round

    KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Florida Southern College men’s golf team is in tenth place following Day One of the Newberry College Invitational, held at the Kiawah Island Ocean Course. The Mocs are a combined 597, tied for eighth place with Queens University of Charlotte after the first two rounds, 21 strokes behind first place Lynn University. Southern is just six strokes out of third place.
  • Men's Golf Takes Third Place Finish in 39th Annual Matlock Collegiate Classic

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's golf team hosted the 39th annual Matlock Collegiate Classic at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland, Florida on Monday and Tuesday. The Mocs finished the tournament in third place with a final score of 877, two strokes behind second place.

    LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics is saddened to report the passing of former Sports Information Director Bill Turnage. He passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at his home in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was 72 years old.

    SEASIDE, CALIF. – The Florida Southern College men’s golf team finished the third and final round of the Otter Invitational, and the Mocs placed 12th, out of 16 teams. The event was hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay at the Bayonet & Blackhorse Golf Courses.

    BLOOMINGTON, IL – The Florida Southern men’s golf team is currently ranked 19th in the country, according to the Golfweek Division II Poll, which includes all events through Oct. 15. The Mocs have an adjusted scoring average of 73.47, through three events this fall.
  • Florida Southern Places in Top-10 Percent of Division II With Academic Success Rate of 90 Percent

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Florida Southern College athletics continues to promote student-athlete success in the classroom as the department earned a Division II Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90 for the 2012 cohort, the NCAA released on Wednesday. The 90 percent mark is tied for the highest mark that the department has ever earned, with the previous record set during the 2010 six-year cohort. 
  • FSC Men's Golf Concludes Copperhead Classic

    INNISBROOK, FLA. – The Florida Southern College men’s golf program completed the 2019 Copperhead Classic in 13th place, shooting a combined 890 or 38 strokes above par. The three-round event was hosted by the University of West Florida, and held at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course.

    NORMAN, Okla. – The Florida Southern College men’s golf program is ranked No. 2 in the country in the first Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll of the season, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America today. The Mocs garnered two first place votes en route to earning 452 points.
