
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Freshman Chris Fosdick shot a one-under 69 in Round Three of the 2019 Doc Gimmler Men's Golf Classic, leading the Florida Southern Moccasins to a sixth place finish. Fosdick tied for fifth place individually, just one stroke behind the leaders.
The U.S. Naval Academy won the team championship with a combined score of 834, -6, in the two-day, three-round event. Yale finished second at 843 (+3), followed by Lafayette (844, +4), Rhode Island (848, +8) St. Peter's (854, +14), and Florida Southern (859, +19). In all, 12 of the 14 teams participating were NCAA Division I programs.
Fosdick went 69-70-68 in his three rounds for a total of 207 strokes. Sophomore Johnny Tucker was the second best Moc on the weekend, tieing for 44rd place with 218 strokes (74-71-73). One stroke behind him were senior Chase Ibbotson (74-74-71) and redshirt-freshman Adam Alvarez (72-77-70). Sophomore Max Coutsolioutsos posted a 72 today, his best round of the event, to place in a tie for 37th at 220, +10.
The Mocs will return south for next week's event, the Cougar Invitational, hosted by Columbus (Ga.) State at the Country Club of Columbus.
