MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Southern college freshman Chris Fosdick has been named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Golfer of the Week. He is the first Moc golfer to win the award this season.
For the week ending Sept. 15, Fosdick placed fifth overall at the St. John's (N.Y.) University Doc Gimmler Classic played at historic Bethpage Golf Club on Long Island, N.Y. Of the 14 teams participating, 12 were Division I programs.
Fosdick shot par or under in each of the three rounds of the tournament. On Day One, he shot a 2-under 68, followed by an even-par 70. On Day Two, he responded with a one-under 69. His total of 207 strokes was good enough for a fifth-place tie, just one stroke from medalist honors.
A true freshman, this was the first event for Fosdick in his Florida Southern career.
