COLUMBUS, GA. – The Florida Southern College men's golf team placed second at the Cougar Invitational presented by AFLAC. The Mocs were tied for first place through the third and final round. However, Georgia Southwestern bested FSC on the first playoff hole, hole number 10.
The three-round, two day event was hosted by Columbus State University, and played at the Country Club of Columbus.
Entering the third round, the Mocs were atop the leaderboard, holding a four stroke lead.
In the third round, sophomore Max Coutsolioutsos shot a three-under 68 to finish the tournament at 209 (-4). His combined effort placed him in a tie for fourth place overall, just three strokes from medalist honors. Vincent Norrman of Georgia Southwestern claimed that distinction with a combined 206, seven strokes under par.
Also for Southern, freshman Chris Fosdick shot a one-over 72 in round three, finishing at 212, one-under, for the tournament. He was joined in a tie for thirteenth place by sophomore Johnny Tucker, whose 74 today left him at 212, -1, also. Senior Chase Ibbotson made 72 today, finishing at 218.
Florida Southern will return to action in two weeks, participating in the Copperhead Classic, hosted by the University of West Florida at Innisbrook Resort Copperhead Course in Palm Harbour on Oct. 14-15.
