  • Florida Southern and Sunshine State Conference 2020 Fall Sports Update

    MELBOURNE and LAKELAND, Fla. – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and with the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes and all those in our campus communities as our highest priority, the Sunshine State Conference Presidents Council announces the postponement of all scheduled competitions in the fall sports season. This includes men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, and women’s volleyball.
  • 215 Florida Southern Student-Athletes Named to Spring SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll

    MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference has announced that 215 Florida College student-athletes, representing 12 different sports, have been named to the 2020 Sunshine State Conference Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll presented by Barnes & Noble College.
  • Florida Southern College Athletics 2019-20 Academic and MVP Honors Announced

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College Athletics has announced major academic and athletic awards for the 2019-20 school year. The Academic Awards are presented to the junior or senior who has the highest grade point average on the team. The Most Valuable Player Awards were selected by the head coach for each respective program.
  • FSC Athletics Ranked 25th in 2019-20 Helper Helper Final Report

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics was recognized for its community service efforts over the 2019-20 academic year, logging 4,313 total hours since July 1, 2019. As a department the Mocs ranked 25th among NCAA Division II schools nationally, and was the highest-ranked Sunshine State Conference member institution.

  • FSC's Horwitz Named 3rd Team All-America in Men's Lacrosse

    BALTIMORE, Md. – Florida Southern College men’s lacrosse student-athlete Kevin Horwitz earned All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse for Division II for the 2020 season. Horwitz garnered Third Team honors as a face-off specialist.
  • All Florida Southern College Athletic Facilities Closed

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Until further notice, all athletic facilities at Florida Southern College are closed. This includes the Jenkins Field House, Gilbert Gymnasium, the Barnett Athletic Complex, Moccasin Field, Chris Bellotto Field, Henley Field, the Ruthven Courts, the Wellness Center and the Hollis Wellness Center Pool, Warden Tennis Courts, and all locker rooms.
  • SSC Cancels All Spring 2020 League Competitions and Championships

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - In alignment with yesterday’s NCAA Board of Governors Resolution, the Sunshine State Conference has canceled all league competitions and championships for the spring 2020 semester, effectively immediately. Member institutions will exercise institutional discretion as to practice and regular-season non-conference competition in all sports for the spring 2020 semester. This decision was unanimously agreed upon by the SSC Presidents Council and SSC Athletic Directors Council with the health, safety, and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and campus communities in mind.
  • NCAA Cancels all Winter and Spring Championships

    LAKELAND – The NCAA has issued a statement regarding all winter and sport championships that will cancel all championships. Hence, the NCAA Men’s Basketball South Region Championship, originally scheduled to be held at the Jenkins Field House at Florida Southern, has been canceled.
  • FSC Men's Lacrosse Honors Seniors as Team Captains in Game Against Frostburg State

    FROSTBURG, Md. – On a night with so many questions, Florida Southern College men's lacrosse took to the field for a game against Frostburg State University. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Homewood Field on the campus of John’s Hopkins University. Throughout the afternoon college campuses began to announce the cancellation of their spring sports, this included Johns Hopkins. The game would be moved to two hours to Frostburg State’s campus.
  • FSC's Horwitz Named SSC Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse junior, Kevin Horwitz has been named Sunshine State Conference specialist of the week. The weekly honors presented by Jimmy Johns are for games played March 2-8. This award is the first for Horwitz who went 26-for-26 at the faceoff X in the Mocs first game of the week.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Florida Southern College men's lacrosse team reenters the USILA national coaches' poll. The Mocs were receiving votes last week and had been receiving votes or ranked in all previous polls this season.
  • Frank Propels FSC Men's Lacrosse to Victory over No. 13 Mount Olive

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College men's lacrosse picked up a significant victory over No. 13 Mount Olive on Sunday afternoon at Moccasin Field. The Mocs (3-3) used five straight goals in the second quarter to take control of the game over the Trojans (4-2).
  • Horwitz Ties FSC Program Record with 26 Face-off Wins as Men's Lacrosse Drops Midweek Match Up Against Saint Rose

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College men’s lacrosse set a program record with 65 total shots in a loss. The Moccasins (2-3) recorded 15 or more shots in each quarter as they dropped a midweek contest to the College of Saint Rose (3-0), 15-9, on Wednesday night at Moccasin Field.
  • Mocs Hammer Montevallo in Men's Lacrosse, 16-9

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Nine different players scored goals for the No. 20 Florida Southern men’s lacrosse team as the Mocs defeated the visiting Montevallo Falcons, 16-9, on Saturday afternoon at Moccasin Field. Senior attackman Joe Appio and freshman attackman Thomas Frank each had four goals to pace the Mocs (2-2), while Jackson Neufel of Montevallo (3-2) led all scorers with five goals.

  • Nolan Records Four Goals as Men's Lacrosse Falls to Tampa in a Non-Conference Matchup

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Sophomore attacker Sean Nolan recorded the first four goals as the Florida Southern College men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-5 decision to Tampa. The Mocs (1-2) took on its rival Tampa (3-0) in a non-conference matchup at Moccasin Field at the Barnett Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
  • Mocs Mens Lacrosse Cracks USILA Top 20 National Poll

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Florida Southern College men’s lacrosse team has cracked the Top 20 in the USILA national coaches’ poll, coming in at No. 20 in the third weekly installment of the 2020 season. The Mocs had been receiving votes until this week, when the Mocs (1-1) lost 12-10 to No. 6 Belmont Abbey.
  • Mocs Men's Lacrosse Falls 12-10 at Belmont Abbey

    BELMONT, N.C. – The Florida Southern College men's lacrosse rallied in the fourth quarter but that was not enough as they fell at Belmont Abbey, 12-10 on Saturday. Sophomore Jeff Atlas paced the Mocs as he recorded four points on the day, three goals and one assist. Both Carson Wallace and Sean Nolan recorded a pair of goals each in the loss. Florida Southern is now 1-1 on the season as Belmont Abbey improves to 3-0 on the season.
  • Mocs Men's Lacrosse Dominates Molloy, 18-8, in Season Opener

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men’s lacrosse team began the 2020 season in grand fashion, beating visiting Molloy College in the season opener on Friday night, 18-8. Sean Nolan led the way with four goals and two assists, while Jeff Atlas added two goals and five assists. The Mocs are receiving votes in Week 1 of the USILA Coaches Poll, and they showed why tonight.

    LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics is saddened to report the passing of former Sports Information Director Bill Turnage. He passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at his home in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was 72 years old.

    ROCK HILL, S.C. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) released their 2020 preseason coaches poll, and the Florida Southern College Moccasins are receiving votes. The USILA officially ranks the Top 20 teams, and the Mocs are the first team outside of the list.

A trio of seniors will officially lead the squad: attackman Joe Appio, defenseman Skyler Sarkisian, and midfielder Carson Wallace. Serving as assistant captains will be sophomore attackman Jeff Atlas and sophomore midfielder Craig Connor.

  • Florida Southern Places in Top-10 Percent of Division II With Academic Success Rate of 90 Percent

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Florida Southern College athletics continues to promote student-athlete success in the classroom as the department earned a Division II Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90 for the 2012 cohort, the NCAA released on Wednesday. The 90 percent mark is tied for the highest mark that the department has ever earned, with the previous record set during the 2010 six-year cohort. 
  • Florida Southern Men's Lacrosse Releases 2020 Schedule

In all, the Mocs have a 15 game slate, which features eight home dates, including a string of four straight.
  • Lubs Returns to Florida Southern as Men's Lacrosse Assistant Coach

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse head coach Marty Ward is bring backing back a familiar face to the Moccasin sideline for the 2020 season. DJ Lubs was announced as the Mocs' new assistant coach on Friday after spending the past two seasons as an assistant and eventual head coach at Michigan State. A former standout on the field for Florida Southern, Lubs was the first all-American in the history of the Moccasins' men's lacrosse program.
