  • FSC Athletics Ranked 25th in 2019-20 Helper Helper Final Report

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics was recognized for its community service efforts over the 2019-20 academic year, logging 4,313 total hours since July 1, 2019. As a department the Mocs ranked 25th among NCAA Division II schools nationally, and was the highest-ranked Sunshine State Conference member institution.
  • Florida Southern Men's Swimming Produces Five All-Americans

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Florida Southern College men’s swimming program has produced five All-Americans in 2020, as recognized by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). They are Miguel Bernotti, Brandon Dyck, Matias Lopez, Luka Prostran, and Cole Smith.

  • All Florida Southern College Athletic Facilities Closed

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Until further notice, all athletic facilities at Florida Southern College are closed. This includes the Jenkins Field House, Gilbert Gymnasium, the Barnett Athletic Complex, Moccasin Field, Chris Bellotto Field, Henley Field, the Ruthven Courts, the Wellness Center and the Hollis Wellness Center Pool, Warden Tennis Courts, and all locker rooms.
  • SSC Cancels All Spring 2020 League Competitions and Championships

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - In alignment with yesterday’s NCAA Board of Governors Resolution, the Sunshine State Conference has canceled all league competitions and championships for the spring 2020 semester, effectively immediately. Member institutions will exercise institutional discretion as to practice and regular-season non-conference competition in all sports for the spring 2020 semester. This decision was unanimously agreed upon by the SSC Presidents Council and SSC Athletic Directors Council with the health, safety, and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and campus communities in mind.
  • NCAA Cancels all Winter and Spring Championships

    LAKELAND – The NCAA has issued a statement regarding all winter and sport championships that will cancel all championships. Hence, the NCAA Men’s Basketball South Region Championship, originally scheduled to be held at the Jenkins Field House at Florida Southern, has been canceled.
  • Southern Men's Swimming Sees Four Earn All-SSC Honors

    MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Southern College men’s swimming sees four individuals earn All-Sunshine State Conference honors. The four Mocs include junior Matias Lopez, freshman Luka Prostran, sophomore Cole Smith, and junior Brandon Dyck. Southern totaled four of the eighteen student-athletes who have been selected to the 2019-20 All-SSC Men's Swimming Team. Voting for the team was conducted among the Sunshine State Conference men's swimming coaches.

  • Former Florida Southern SID Bill Turnage Passes at Age 72

    LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics is saddened to report the passing of former Sports Information Director Bill Turnage. He passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at his home in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was 72 years old.
  • Florida Southern Swimming Programs Tabbed Scholar All-America Teams by CSCAA

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Florida Southern College women’s and men’s swimming teams were among a record 762 programs from 480 institutions that were recognized as Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the Fall 2019 semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their Fall 2019 grade point averages and represent 17,685 student-athletes.

  • FSC Men's Swimming Bested by No. 6 Nova Southeastern in Final Home Meet of 2019-20

    LAKELAND, FLA. – The 16th-ranked Florida Southern College men's swimming team took on the sixth-ranked Sharks of Nova Southeastern on a day in which it honored its three seniors in a pre-meet ceremony. The Sharks were victorious 160-101 on Saturday in a meet held at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool. The three seniors honored were Talor Hamilton, Daniel Rodriguez, and Jon Sawyer.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Florida Southern College athletics continues to promote student-athlete success in the classroom as the department earned a Division II Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90 for the 2012 cohort, the NCAA released on Wednesday. The 90 percent mark is tied for the highest mark that the department has ever earned, with the previous record set during the 2010 six-year cohort.
