    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics was recognized for its community service efforts over the 2019-20 academic year, logging 4,313 total hours since July 1, 2019. As a department the Mocs ranked 25th among NCAA Division II schools nationally, and was the highest-ranked Sunshine State Conference member institution.

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Until further notice, all athletic facilities at Florida Southern College are closed. This includes the Jenkins Field House, Gilbert Gymnasium, the Barnett Athletic Complex, Moccasin Field, Chris Bellotto Field, Henley Field, the Ruthven Courts, the Wellness Center and the Hollis Wellness Center Pool, Warden Tennis Courts, and all locker rooms.
  • SSC Cancels All Spring 2020 League Competitions and Championships

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - In alignment with yesterday’s NCAA Board of Governors Resolution, the Sunshine State Conference has canceled all league competitions and championships for the spring 2020 semester, effectively immediately. Member institutions will exercise institutional discretion as to practice and regular-season non-conference competition in all sports for the spring 2020 semester. This decision was unanimously agreed upon by the SSC Presidents Council and SSC Athletic Directors Council with the health, safety, and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and campus communities in mind.

    LAKELAND – The NCAA has issued a statement regarding all winter and sport championships that will cancel all championships. Hence, the NCAA Men’s Basketball South Region Championship, originally scheduled to be held at the Jenkins Field House at Florida Southern, has been canceled.

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's tennis won its 10th-straight match on Wednesday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center as it won 4-1 over Bluefield State. The No. 18 Moccasins (11-1) defeated its seventh above-.500 opponent of the season in the Blues (8-3). "The guys have proven to be disciplined and resilient," head coach Greg Van Emburgh said. "This is a solid win for us and will help us get better and stronger leading into our conference schedule."

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's tennis defeated Lynn Univerisity for the first time since 2007 on Saturday morning, as the Moccasins rolled to a 5-2 victory at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. The No. 18 Moccasins (3-1, 1-0 SSC) earned their second upset over a top-10 team by defeating the No. 10 Fighting Knights (3-1, 1-1 SSC), and in doing so gave LU its first loss of 2020.

The Moccasins' (1-0) victory over the No. 7 Saints (1-1) is the second highest-ranked win in program history, with the last top-10 victory occurring nearly a decade ago.     MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's tennis has been picked to finished seventh in the Sunshine State Conference according to the 2020 SSC Preseason Coaches Poll released Thursday by the conference office. 2019 National Champion Barry was picked to repeat as champions of the conference with seven first-place votes and 49 points.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Florida Southern College athletics continues to promote student-athlete success in the classroom as the department earned a Division II Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90 for the 2012 cohort, the NCAA released on Wednesday. The 90 percent mark is tied for the highest mark that the department has ever earned, with the previous record set during the 2010 six-year cohort.

    WINTER PARK, Fla. –  Valentin Hertweck and Pablo Salamanca won their doubles final and claimed individual titles as Florida Southern College men's tennis dominated in its final day of competition on Sunday at the Rollins Varner Memorial Invitational. Oscar Sohl joined his teammates with a singles flight victory to complete the four finals victories for the Moccasins on the day. Southern will now prepare for regular-season action in the spring.

Valentin Hertweck and Chase Martin will face off in the flight B final while Oscar Sohl will play in the flight C final and Pablo Salamanca in the flight D final. The Moccasins will finish competing at the Varner Memorial Invitational with the conclusion of singles and doubles flights on Sunday.
