TEMPE, Ariz. - Florida Southern College men's tennis closed out the 2020 season with a No. 15 ranking in the final Oracle/ITA Division II poll as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association this week.
Southern jumped from 18 to 15 in the rankings thanks to an 11-0 run since Feb. 19. The Mocs picked up a huge program victory as they defeated No. 10 Lynn (5-2) at home. The first win for the Mocs against Lynn since 2007.
Moccasin Junior Erik Nordblom earned his second conference player of the week honors (Feb. 24) after going 2-0 in doubles and 1-0 in singles action. This brought the Moccasins season total to three POW awards on the season.
In 2019, FSC peaked at No. 30, earning the ranking in week three and held onto a ranking through the ninth poll. The Moccasins previously reached No. 12 in February of 2007.
The Moccasins had a packed March as they played eight matches over the first 12 days of the month. Southern opened the month with three straight 6-1 victories over Findlay (March 2), Grand Valley State (March 4), and Daemen (March 7).
