Ormsby Paces Mocs at ERAU First Chance/Last Chance Meet

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Florida Southern continued its men's track spring season by competing at the Embry-Riddle First Chance/Last Chance Meet here Saturday on the ERAU campus.

In the 3000-meter, The Moccasins took three of the top four spots, led by senior Bobby Ormsby who won the event with the third-fastest time in Moccasin history with an 8:33.41 mark. Freshmen Mason Jones (8:48.30) and Joshua Wagner (8:50.85) came in third and fourth, respectively rounding out the top performing trio. Also competing were fellow freshmen Mitchell Kozik (22nd, 9:14.79) and Evan Williams (24th, 9:16.15), senior Christian Beauchemin (37th, 9:44.62), freshmen Brian Martin (42nd, 9:53.24) and Brandon Williams (44th, 9:58.83), and senior Oswaldo Zapata (48th, 10:14.24).

The Moccasins captured first place in the 4000-meter distance medley relay with a 10:51.46 time by the foursome of Kozik, Williams, Wagner, and Jones. It was just the third time Florida Southern had entered a team in the event, this was the second fastest time.

In the mile, senior John Bryant took fifth place with a 4:44.48 time, recording the fifth best FSC time ever.

Senior Jesse Hudson placed 27th in the 400-meter at 54.11, recording the ninth fastest time in program history, while freshmen Matthew Pennell and William Sailor competed in the 60-meter dash, placing 39th and 40th, respectively with times of 7.82 and 7.93, recording the third and fourth fastest times in Moccasin history. The same freshman duo ran in the 200-meter with Pennell turning in a 24.98 time and Sailor with a 25.68 mark.
