LAKELAND, Fla. - Mason Jones finished third as Florida Southern College men's cross country finished sixth at the 2019 NCAA South Region Championships, held at Holloway Park in Lakeland.
Jones led the Mocs from the start and stayed with the leaders for the entire race. He finished in third, crossing the line in 32:22.3, the ninth fastest time in an NCAA Regional Meet for the Moccasins. Josh Wagner finished second for Southern and 17th overall in a time of 32:51.0.
Bryson Yamnitz crossed third for the Mocs, setting a personal best 34:31.5 as he finished in 58th place. Warran Grajalez finished fourth for Florida Southern in a time of 34:56.8, enough for 71st while Alex Guy rounded out the scoring five in his 35:23.5, 85th place effort.
Florida Southern finished with 231 points while Alabama-Huntsville won the meet with 52 points. Lee (Tenn.) took second with 77 pts. Saint Leo (95 pts.), Embry-Riddle (128 pts.) and Mississippi College (228 pts.) rounded out the top five. Alabama-Huntsville, Lee (Tenn.) and Saint Leo automatically qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships.
