Moccasins Finish Fourth at NCWSA National Championships

SAN MARCOS, TX - Tanguy Dailland and Valentina Gonzalez each finished second in the trick competition, and Allie Nicholson finished second in the women's slalom as Florida Southern College water ski took fourth place at the 2018 Connelly Skis NCWSA National Championships over the weekend. Dailland (5,910 points) finished just 60 points out of first place and was a comfortable 80 points better than the third-place finisher on the men's side. He also placed fifth in the jump competition.

Among Florida Southern's other top finishers on the men's side were Jamie Calhoun (4th - slalom), and Aris Techoueyres (7th - slalom/5th - trick).

Gonzalez scored 3,560 points to come in second on the women's side, nearly 400 points better than the third-best mark of the weekend. She also took fourth in the jump category. Nicholson (104 buoys, 2.0 at 39.5 off) narrowly missed winning the women's slalom in what proved to be a closely-contested top three.

On the women's side, the Mocs also had strong showings from Paige Rini (3rd - trick) and Samantha Dumala (6th - slalom). Overall, Florida Southern placed fourth as a team while UL Monroe, Louisiana, and Alabama took the top three spots in order. The Mocs posted 11,515 points as a team to finish well ahead of fifth-place Rollins (7,540 points). A total of 12 teams competed in the D1 level at this year's NCWSA Championships, including Clemson, Ohio State, and Texas A&M.
