  • Florida Southern and Sunshine State Conference 2020 Fall Sports Update

    MELBOURNE and LAKELAND, Fla. – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and with the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes and all those in our campus communities as our highest priority, the Sunshine State Conference Presidents Council announces the postponement of all scheduled competitions in the fall sports season. This includes men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, and women’s volleyball.
  • Florida Southern College Athletics 2019-20 Academic and MVP Honors Announced

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College Athletics has announced major academic and athletic awards for the 2019-20 school year. The Academic Awards are presented to the junior or senior who has the highest grade point average on the team. The Most Valuable Player Awards were selected by the head coach for each respective program.
  • FSC Athletics Ranked 25th in 2019-20 Helper Helper Final Report

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics was recognized for its community service efforts over the 2019-20 academic year, logging 4,313 total hours since July 1, 2019. As a department the Mocs ranked 25th among NCAA Division II schools nationally, and was the highest-ranked Sunshine State Conference member institution.

  • Curtis Rabe Named to Florida Water Ski Federation Hall of Fame

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Water Ski Federation (FWSF) has announced that Florida Southern College head water ski coach Curtis Rabe has been voted into the FWSF Hall of Fame. The induction is scheduled to be held at the banquet for the 2020 Florida State Championships on July 11, 2020.
  • All Florida Southern College Athletic Facilities Closed

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Until further notice, all athletic facilities at Florida Southern College are closed. This includes the Jenkins Field House, Gilbert Gymnasium, the Barnett Athletic Complex, Moccasin Field, Chris Bellotto Field, Henley Field, the Ruthven Courts, the Wellness Center and the Hollis Wellness Center Pool, Warden Tennis Courts, and all locker rooms.
  • SSC Cancels All Spring 2020 League Competitions and Championships

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - In alignment with yesterday’s NCAA Board of Governors Resolution, the Sunshine State Conference has canceled all league competitions and championships for the spring 2020 semester, effectively immediately. Member institutions will exercise institutional discretion as to practice and regular-season non-conference competition in all sports for the spring 2020 semester. This decision was unanimously agreed upon by the SSC Presidents Council and SSC Athletic Directors Council with the health, safety, and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and campus communities in mind.
  • NCAA Cancels all Winter and Spring Championships

    LAKELAND – The NCAA has issued a statement regarding all winter and sport championships that will cancel all championships. Hence, the NCAA Men’s Basketball South Region Championship, originally scheduled to be held at the Jenkins Field House at Florida Southern, has been canceled.
  • Former Florida Southern SID Bill Turnage Passes at Age 72

    LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics is saddened to report the passing of former Sports Information Director Bill Turnage. He passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at his home in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was 72 years old.
  • Women's Athletic Teams Set to Host Cow Chip Bingo

    LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics has brought back an ol' time fundraiser - Cow Chip Bingo. This is the 23rd time the College has run the fundraiser, aimed at providing support specifically for the women's athletic programs.
  • Dailland Voted NCWSA Male Athlete of the Year

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's water skier Tanguy Dailland has been selected as the National Collegiate Water Ski Association (NCWSA) Male Athlete of the Year, it was announced on Monday. Dailland was one of five nominees for the award, which was selected via fan vote on the NCWSA's website.
  • Florida Southern Waterski Places Fourth at Syndicate Waterski 2019 NCWSA Nationals

    RIO LINDA. CALIF. – The Syndicate Waterski 2019 NCWSA Division I Nationals took place from October 10-12, and the Florida Southern College teams finished fourth best in the country, scoring 10,790 total team points over the three-day event. The event was held at the Bell Acqua Water Ski Lakes.
  • Three Mocs Win Individual Titles as Water Ski Qualifies for Nationals

    GREENWOOD, S.C. - Jamie Calhoun, Tanguy Daillaind, and Valentina Gonzalez continued their dominance on the water as Florida Southern College water ski finished second at the NCWSA Southern/Atlantic Coastal Region Championships to advance to next month's NCWSA National Championships
  • Mocs Fall to Rollins in Dual Meet

    POLK CITY, Fla. - Florida Southern College water ski kicked of its 2019 season with a dual meet against Rollins on Saturday at Action Water Sports in Polk City. The Moccasins, who were shorthanded on the women's side, fell to the Tars by a final score of 955.0 - 695.0. The teams tied in the slalom (355 points), but Rollins came away with wins in the trick and jump competitions to win the event.

    EDMONTON, Alberta - Florida Southern College waterski standout Valentina Gonzalez brought home a word championship last week when she finished first in the jump competition at the IWWF (International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation) World U21 Water Ski Championships.
