    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics was recognized for its community service efforts over the 2019-20 academic year, logging 4,313 total hours since July 1, 2019. As a department the Mocs ranked 25th among NCAA Division II schools nationally, and was the highest-ranked Sunshine State Conference member institution.

  • FSC's Jenike Named WBCA Honorable Mention All-American

    ATLANTA, Ga. – The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has named Florida Southern College women’s basketball student-athlete Julia Jenike a 2020 WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches’ All-America Honorable Mention. Jenike is the only Sunshine State Conference women’s basketball student-athlete to be recognized by the WBCA this season as an All-American.
  • All Florida Southern College Athletic Facilities Closed

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Until further notice, all athletic facilities at Florida Southern College are closed. This includes the Jenkins Field House, Gilbert Gymnasium, the Barnett Athletic Complex, Moccasin Field, Chris Bellotto Field, Henley Field, the Ruthven Courts, the Wellness Center and the Hollis Wellness Center Pool, Warden Tennis Courts, and all locker rooms.
  • SSC Cancels All Spring 2020 League Competitions and Championships

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - In alignment with yesterday’s NCAA Board of Governors Resolution, the Sunshine State Conference has canceled all league competitions and championships for the spring 2020 semester, effectively immediately. Member institutions will exercise institutional discretion as to practice and regular-season non-conference competition in all sports for the spring 2020 semester. This decision was unanimously agreed upon by the SSC Presidents Council and SSC Athletic Directors Council with the health, safety, and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and campus communities in mind.
  • NCAA Cancels all Winter and Spring Championships

    LAKELAND – The NCAA has issued a statement regarding all winter and sport championships that will cancel all championships. Hence, the NCAA Men’s Basketball South Region Championship, originally scheduled to be held at the Jenkins Field House at Florida Southern, has been canceled.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA has announced the 64-team field for the Division II women’s basketball national tournament, and the Florida Southern Moccasins were selected to compete. The Mocs will be the No. 7 seed in the South Region, and will face No. 2 Union University on Friday, March 13. Lee University is the No. 1 seed in the region, and will host the Regional in Cleveland, Tenn.

    MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Southern College women’s basketball standout Julia Jenike has been named First-Team All-Sunshine State Conference. All-Conference selections and individual award winners are determined by vote of Sunshine State Conference head coaches with oversight and approval from member institution Athletic Directors. A junior guard, Jenike has led the Moccasins to a 19-10 overall record, and a third place finish in the SSC regular season. The Mocs are currently ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA South Regional Rankings.

    LAKELAND, Fla. – #3 Florida Southern College (19-10) advanced in the Sunshine State Conference Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Jimmy John’s tonight, defeating #6 Florida Tech (13-16) handily, 93-62. Sophomore guard Mackenzie Steele led all scorers with a career-high 23 points, while sophomore forward Ashley Shell recorded the game’s only double-double, with career-highs with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women’s and men’s basketball teams have both clinched post-season berths in the SSC Championships, which are set to begin March 3 with the Quarterfinals Round. The Semifinals will take place on Thursday, March 5, with the Championship Games slated for Sunday, March 8. All games will take place on the campus sites of the higher ranked team.

    TAMPA, Fla. – It took all 40 minutes but Florida Southern College women’s basketball earned a 56-51 victory over No. 14 Tampa. With the victory, Moccasin Head Coach Betsy Harris claimed career win No. 200. The Mocs lead nearly the whole game as they rallied to hand the Spartans their first Sunshine State Conference loss of the 2019-20 season.

    LAKELAND, Fla. – In a game that took two extra sessions to decide a winner, the Florida Southern College women’s basketball team dropped an 84-75 decision to Eckerd College on Wednesday night. With the loss, Eckerd (18-5, 14-3 SSC) remains in second place in the Sunshine State Conference, with the Mocs (16-19, 13-5 SSC) right behind in third. Playing in their final regular season home game, seniors Elsa Landberg and Katerina Pazzaglia-Khomenko each had strong performances. Landberg set a career-high with 15 points, as Pazzaglia-Khomenko had 14 points and seven rebounds.

    FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Playing in front of a national audience via ESPN3, the Florida Southern College women's basketball team won at Nova Southeastern on Saturday, 71-62. With the win, the Mocs (16-9, 13-4 SSC) sweep the season series from the Sharks (11-12, 7-9 SSC), and ensure that the Mocs will finish no lower than third place in the Sunshine State Conference regular season standings. Junior forward Julia Jenike led all scorers with 19 points, while sophomore forward Ashley Shell poured in 15 points, coming off the bench.
  • Florida Southern Basketball Set to Make National Broadcast Appearance on ESPN3

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women’s and men’s basketball programs have been selected to be a part of the 2019-20 NCAA Division II Basketball Showcase by the NCAA and its media partner, ESPN. The February 15, 2020, doubleheader at Nova Southeastern will be broadcast live on ESPN3. The women’s game will tipoff at 2:05 p.m., with the men to follow at 4:05 p.m.

Wearing the home grey uniforms, the Mocs got a career night from junior guard Marta Aranda, who poured in 16 points, coming off the bench. Florida Southern, 15-9 overall, keeps pace in the Sunshine State Conference with a record of 12-4. Rollins drops to 12-11 overall, and 5-10 in the SSC.

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's basketball team fought back from a 19-point deficit, but could not overcome the visiting Florida Tech Panthers (11-12, 7-8 SSC) on Saturday night, falling 73-70 in Sunshine State Conference action. The loss snaps a four game winning streak for the Mocs (14-9, 11-4 SSC). Sophomore guard Bekki Kalaydjiev scored a career-high 22 points to lead all scorers, while junior forward Julia Jenike had the game’s sole double-double, with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The Mocs have now won four consecutive games, and push their SSC record to 11-3. Southern is 14-8 overall. Lynn, meanwhile, falls to 11-11 overall, and 6-8 in the SSC.

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women’s basketball team won its third consecutive game on Saturday night, besting Sunshine State Conference rival Embry-Riddle, 81-52. The Mocs (13-8, 10-3 SSC) will remain in second place in the 11-team league. Five different Mocs scored in double figures, led by junior forward Julia Jenike, who had 18. Classmate Marta Aranda poured in a career-high 13 points, while freshman forward Kaja Wroblewska scored 12, sophomore guard Mackenzie Steele scored 11, and senior forward Katerina Pazzaglia-Khomenko recorded ten.

    SAINT LEO, Fla. – Sophomore Bekki Kalaydjiev scored with .9 seconds remaining in the game as the Florida Southern College women's basketball team escaped with a 67-65 win over host Saint Leo University on Wednesday night. The Mocs led for less than six minutes in the game, in completing the series sweep of the Lions. FSC is now 12-8 on the season and 9-3 in the Sunshine State Conference, while Saint Leo is 9-11, and 5-7 in the SSC.
