Mocs Women's Golf Places Third at WGI Invitational

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Florida Southern women's golf team finished in third place at the World Golf Invitational, held at the Slammer & Squire Golf Course. The Mocs shot a combined 603 over the two-day, two-round event, hosted by Flagler College. The event hosted 18 different collegiate programs from across Division II.

Junior Shelby Lewis led the way for Southern, with a combined 150, placing her in a tie for 10th place in the event. She had shot a +4, 76, in Round One, then shaved two strokes in the Second Round to post a +2, 74.

Freshman Sun Hwang and sophomore Nathalie Svensson finished at 152 strokes apiece for the tournament, tying for 13th best. Sophomore Loren Perez shot a 74 in the Second Round, bringing her to a total of 154, tying for 17th best. Senior Amanda Gartrell placed in a tie for 22nd, at 155.

This was the first competition for Southern of the spring season. The women's golf team will now host the Lady Moc Classic, February 17-18, at the Grasslands Golf & Country Club.
