FSC's Gartrell, Perez Earn WGCA All-America Honors

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) has announced that two Florida Southern College golfers are All-Americans. Senior Amanda Gartrell was named First Team All-American, while sophomore Loren Perez was named Second Team All-American.

For Gartrell, this is the third time in as many years that she has earned All-American laurels. In 2018 and 2019, she earned Second Team honors.

Gartrell was also named to the WGCA All-South Region Team for this year. At the Rollins College Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial Invitational, an event that featured seven of the top ten Division II programs in the country, Gartrell (72-66-71) tied for first place as she set a tournament record with a six-under second round. A week prior, at Florida Southern's Lady Moc Classic, she shot a -3 for the event, finishing tied for fifth place. Her three-round score of 213 sits as the record tournament low in FSC program history. She finished the year as the No. 10 ranked golfer in the country, according to Golfstat.com.

Perez had her best showing in the fall, at the Saint Leo Invitational. She claimed Medalist honors for the two-round event with a combined even par, 144. Her one-under 71 in Round Two tied for the low round of the day. Through 36 holes, she made birdie nine times. At The Battle for Old South, she fired a -1 (143) to tie for second among all 79 individuals, as the Mocs finished in second place as a team. She finished the year as the No. 23 ranked golfer in the country, according to Golfstat.com.

The Mocs finished the year ranked No. 9 in the country by the WGCA.
