Sunshine State Conference Women's Lacrosse History

On July 1, 2014, the SSC added women's lacrosse as a sponsored sport. The five-team league consists of Florida Southern, Florida Tech, Rollins, Saint Leo and Tampa. In its first season, the SSC featured two of the top teams in the country with Florida Southern and Rollins, who both spent the season ranked in both the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division II Top 20 polls. The Moccasins swept their four games to win the inaugural regular season championship and earn the top seed in the first-ever SSC Tournament. Rollins, though, would take home the inaugural SSC Tournament in 2015 as they defeated the Mocs in Lakeland, 12-10, in overtime. Both Florida Southern and Rollins earned berths in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament as the Mocs fell in double overtime at Lindenwood (Mo.) and Rollins fell at Lock Haven.
