  • Florida Southern and Sunshine State Conference 2020 Fall Sports Update

    MELBOURNE and LAKELAND, Fla. – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and with the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes and all those in our campus communities as our highest priority, the Sunshine State Conference Presidents Council announces the postponement of all scheduled competitions in the fall sports season. This includes men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, and women’s volleyball.
  • Florida Southern Swimming Produces Ten Scholar All-Americans

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Florida Southern College women’s and men’s swimming teams have produced ten total Scholar All-Americans, as recognized by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Last week, the CSCAA named both FSC programs as Scholar All-America teams.

  • Florida Southern College Athletics 2019-20 Academic and MVP Honors Announced

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College Athletics has announced major academic and athletic awards for the 2019-20 school year. The Academic Awards are presented to the junior or senior who has the highest grade point average on the team. The Most Valuable Player Awards were selected by the head coach for each respective program.
  • Four Moccasin Student-Athletes Attend Virtual NCAA Career in Sports Forum

    LAKELAND, Fla. -  Last month four Florida Southern College student-athletes were part of a group of nearly 400 NCAA student-athletes to participate in the NCAA’s 2020 Career in Sports Forum, held virtually in May 27-29. The Mocs were represented by Kayla Dumon (Beach Volleyball), Mallary Meyer (Women’s Swimming), Jack Rauch (Men’s Basketball), and Magda Stepnik (Women’s Tennis).
  • FSC Athletics Ranked 25th in 2019-20 Helper Helper Final Report

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics was recognized for its community service efforts over the 2019-20 academic year, logging 4,313 total hours since July 1, 2019. As a department the Mocs ranked 25th among NCAA Division II schools nationally, and was the highest-ranked Sunshine State Conference member institution.

  • All Florida Southern College Athletic Facilities Closed

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Until further notice, all athletic facilities at Florida Southern College are closed. This includes the Jenkins Field House, Gilbert Gymnasium, the Barnett Athletic Complex, Moccasin Field, Chris Bellotto Field, Henley Field, the Ruthven Courts, the Wellness Center and the Hollis Wellness Center Pool, Warden Tennis Courts, and all locker rooms.
  • SSC Cancels All Spring 2020 League Competitions and Championships

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - In alignment with yesterday’s NCAA Board of Governors Resolution, the Sunshine State Conference has canceled all league competitions and championships for the spring 2020 semester, effectively immediately. Member institutions will exercise institutional discretion as to practice and regular-season non-conference competition in all sports for the spring 2020 semester. This decision was unanimously agreed upon by the SSC Presidents Council and SSC Athletic Directors Council with the health, safety, and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and campus communities in mind.
  • NCAA Cancels all Winter and Spring Championships

    LAKELAND – The NCAA has issued a statement regarding all winter and sport championships that will cancel all championships. Hence, the NCAA Men’s Basketball South Region Championship, originally scheduled to be held at the Jenkins Field House at Florida Southern, has been canceled.

  • FSC Women's Swimming Senior Wallen Earns All-SSC Honorable Mention Honors

    MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Southern College women’s swimming senior Malin Wallen has been named to the 2019-20 All-Sunshine State Conference honorable mention team. Wallen is one of 18 student-athletes who have been selected to the 2019-20 All-SSC Women's Swimming Team. Voting for the team was conducted among the Sunshine State Conference women's swimming coaches.
  • Southern Women's Swimming Takes Home Fifth Place in 2020 SSC Championship Meet

    CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team took home a fifth-place finish in the 2020 Sunshine State Conference championship meet. Southern totaled 315 points during the four-day meet held at the Long Center in Clearwater, Fla.

    CLEARWATER, Fla. – Senior Malin Wallen and freshmen Tianna Kosek and Danielle Williams all recorded NCAA “B” qualifying times on day one of the 2020 Sunshine State Conference championship meet. The Florida Southern College women’s swimming team closed out the day in fifth place with 70 points.
  • Former Florida Southern SID Bill Turnage Passes at Age 72

    LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics is saddened to report the passing of former Sports Information Director Bill Turnage. He passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at his home in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was 72 years old.
  • Florida Southern Swimming Programs Tabbed Scholar All-America Teams by CSCAA

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Florida Southern College women’s and men’s swimming teams were among a record 762 programs from 480 institutions that were recognized as Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the Fall 2019 semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their Fall 2019 grade point averages and represent 17,685 student-athletes.

  • Women's Swimming Defeated by No. 6 Nova Southeastern on Senior Day

    LAKELAND, FLA. – The Florida Southern women's swimming team was defeated at home on Saturday afternoon by No. 6 Nova Southeastern in the final home meet of the season, 182.5-73.5. The Mocs celebrated their six seniors during a pre-meet ceremony at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool. The seniors honored were Kyra Fraser, Amanda Giannattasio, Allison Greenwood, Madelyn Snodgrass, Mallary Meyer, and Malin Wallen.

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - Six top-five finishes, including one relay win, helped Florida Southern College women's swimming record 249 points on the third and final day of the Panther Invite to finish second with 462 total points during the three-day meet at the Panther Aquatic Center.

    MELBOURNE, FLA. – The Florida Southern College women’s swimming team completed Day One of the Panther Invite on Friday evening in second place with 81 team points. Rollins College rests atop the three-team field with 141 team points, while host Florida Tech is in third place, with 76 team points. The three-day event continues throughout the weekend. Preliminary heats began at 10:00 a.m., with the finals starting at 6:00 p.m.
  • Mocs Women's Swimming Competes in Quad Meet at Florida State

    TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – The Florida Southern women’s swimming team competed in a quad meet at Florida State on Saturday, competing in duals with North Florida, West Florida, and the host Seminoles. FSC dropped all three head-to-head meets, falling to UNF 202-78, UWF 259-63, and FSU 261-44.
