Lynn Surprises Mocs In Four Sets

A fired-up Lynn team marched into Jenkins Field House Saturday and upset the 17th-ranked Moccasins, 25-18, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18.

It was the Moccasins' first Sunshine State Conference loss in four matches this season and dropped their overall record to 10-5. Lynn, which had lost in four sets Friday night at Saint Leo, improved to 12-4, 2-2 in the SSC.

After finding themselves in a 2-0 deficit, the Moccasins rebounded to take the third set 25-23, but in the fourth set Lynn broke an 8-8 tie with three consecutive points and led the rest of the way.

Julia Borecka did record her fifth straight double-double, and sixth of the season, with an 11-kill, 16-dig effort, but it wasn't enough to offset four Lynn players in double figures in kills, led by Mallory Deneen's 12.

Anna Niebuhr, playing in the libero position for the injured Courtney Johnson, posted a career-high 13 digs.

The Moccasins play at #5 Tampa Wednesday at 7 p.m.
