Zamot’s PR Leads Mocs to 13th Place Finish

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Florida Southern College's women's cross country team finished 13th at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. behind a strong 14th place showing from Sarah Zamot.

Zamot, who finished in 23:05.7, sliced 23.8 seconds off her previous best time of 23:29.5, which she ran last November at the NCAA South Region Championships. Madison Santore, who finished in 25:52.3, bested her previous top time by 31.8 seconds. 

Hannah Flemming finished second for Southern with a time of 24:11.5, enough for 60th place. Hannah Nelson was the third Moccasin to finish, coming in 76th place with a 24:26.4 time. Ysabella Guerra (24:44.1, 93rd place) and Addison Cantor (25:16.0, 117 pts.) rounded out the top five for the Mocs.

Florida Southern totaled 360 points while Augustana (S.D.) won the meet with 36 points. U-Mary finished second with 89 points while UC-Colorado Springs (105 pts.), Western Washington (113 pts.) and Michigan Tech (162 pts.) rounded out the top five. 

The Mocs will race again on Friday, Oct. 11 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
