NEW ORLEANS - Florida Southern College women's cross country team moved one spot up to fourth in the third week of the Cross Country South Region Rankings, released on Tuesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Moccasins replaced Union (Tenn.) in the fourth spot after a 13th place team finish at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 28. Lee (Tenn.) and Tampa remain in the top two spots in the South Region with Embry-Riddle just above Southern in third.
Sarah Zamot has been a powerhouse this season, leading the Mocs in the first two races so far. Zamot, who finished in 23:05.7 at the Roy Griak Invitational, sliced 23.8 seconds off her previous best time of 23:29.5, which she ran last November at the NCAA South Region Championships.
The Mocs will race again on Friday, Oct. 11 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
